Lacoste Makes Life a Beautiful Sport

Our wonderful America holiday is about to end. I am now busy packing our luggage, folding clothes that saw us through 24 days of journey from Dubai to Los Angeles then Las Vegas to New York. Of course, we are not forgetting friends back home who helped us with planning and reservations and guided us on every crucial detail of the trip. As a token of appreciation, Hubby and I decided on giving each of them the famous Lacoste polo shirt.

After the ferry ride to see the Statue of Liberty, my little boy took a much needed nap giving us some adult time. This we used to hit the shops in Manhattan. When we reached Broadway, we spotted the unmissable green crocodile logo. To tick off shopping in New York on my bucket list, right there in the glistening Lacoste boutique, I decided to buy little gifts for our friends back in Dubai.

While browsing and deciding which colors to buy from their renowned polo shirts, the giant screen was playing their newest commercial called The Big Leap. I can’t helped but be mesmerized! Take a look:

I left the store buying more than what I intended. Polo shirts, fragrance, and a new watch for Hubby.  We were on a lifetime trip and I am glad that despite and inspite of the challenges we faced in planning this dream holiday, we never gave up. We remained optimistic thus realizing our dream to continue traveling as a family.

Neiman Marcus: Art of Fashion Spring 2014

Spring break is coming! Today a fellow Mom and I are going to buy musical instruments for the children to play on while on school break. We are also hoping to find the best student alto sax for her teenage son who is always keen to learn new things. While waiting, I pass the time shopping online and checked some spring inspiration from luxury department store Neiman Marcus.

They recently announced Andreas Sjödin as the photographer of The Art of Fashion for Spring 2014. The campaign includes twenty-six images of innovative fashion and will appear in the March edition of the Neiman Marcus publication, the book. Versions will also run in the March issues of Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue and Vanity Fair.

Sjödin was raised in the suburbs of Stockholm. He spent his first 10 years working as an art director on ad campaigns for international fashion companies. “During that time, I got to work with all the important photographers, the most important being [Richard] Avedon,” he says. “Working with him, I realized, Wow, there is an even better job in this industry than art director and that is being a photographer! The energy and passion he had, even at 75, was like a child. I wanted to be like that.”

“Andreas Sjödin isn’t interested in just beauty,” says Eddie Nunns, Vice President of Neiman Marcus Brand Creative. “Each photograph must contain an element of surprise – something that will captivate the viewer.” Other notable photographers of The Art of Fashion campaign have included Richard Avedon, Arthur Elgort, Helmut Newton, Annie Leibovitz, Lillian Bassman and Paolo Roversi.

The Art of Fashion was a revolutionary step for a retailer, as the campaign was designed to feature cutting-edge fashion and provocative photography. Raffiné Beauty Salon Celebrates Art Dubai

Raffine Beauty Salon has collaborated with Dubai-based Canadian artist Michelle Angle Jenkins to mark the upcoming Art Dubai 2014. Recently launched in Sofitel The Palm Resort and Spa, Raffiné Beauty Salon will interpret Michelle Angela Jenkins work titled JOY, into nail art. Working closely with Michelle, Raffine’s nail artists have created artwork to celebrate the art season allowing art lovers an opportunity to wear art throughout March and April and view some of Michelle Angela Jenkins artwork at the salon.

A graduate from the University of Toronto’s Teachers College (OISE), Canadian Artist Michelle Angela Jenkins lives and works in Dubai. She has exhibited her works in over seven countries, including Dubai where she has showcased at several locations over the years. Art has been a focus and passion for Michelle throughout her studies and as an undergraduate at the University of Windsor, she had the opportunity to use different mediums such as metals and clay however painting with acrylic has proven to be her preferred medium. The collaboration with Raffine Beauty Salon is the first for Michelle – the translation of her artwork into nail art is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy her art.

“ This is an exciting project for me; I have never had an opportunity to work with nail artists. Unraveling the emotional of my creation onto this form of art piece is incredible. Working with the Raffine artist allowed me to understand the challenge of small space like the nail. The experience of inviting someone into the interpretation of my work was very personal.
