The Algarve is famous for its golden sandy beaches, temperate climate and stunning scenery – perfect if you’re looking for an enjoyable getaway taking in anything from watersports and adventure to lazing by the pool. Holidays here cover an endless variety of tastes and budgets, and with rest and relaxation often high on the agenda, it’s no surprise that all inclusive Algarve holidays are booming in popularity.
There are many different board basis options and the rules will often change slightly from one hotel to another, but an all inclusive stay means you can generally have all the food and drink you could ever want throughout the day and into the evening. All three meals are catered for – often in a buffet style layout or sometimes with a range of on-site restaurants catering to different tastes – and you’ll often be treated to snacks throughout the day with unlimited drinks on tap too.
For those that like to have everything provided for them throughout the holiday and perhaps only like to venture out to local restaurants once or twice, all inclusive is ideal and puts everything right at your fingertips.
Of course aside from all inclusive, Portugal holidays cater for many other tastes which may suit those who like to be a little more independent. If you like eating out at night and trying the local fare in traditional surroundings, a bed and breakfast, room only or self catering option may be better suited to you. This typically allows you to engage more with the community, whether that means buying breakfast supplies from the local shop or dining out at night in an authentic restaurant.
Although all inclusive can actually help you to save money in the resort, it’s typically very insular and can discourage from exploring beyond the hotel walls. Hotels will often pack a lunch or picnic if asked, enabling you to get value for money whilst enjoying day trips out and discovering the real Portugal.
